Lavalette advises private collectors and companies on acquisitions by established, mid-career, and emerging artists, and facilitates original commissions. Commissions

In the commercial sphere, Lavalette partners with artists and leading magazines and brands on distinctive creative projects, campaigns, editorial work, and site-specific installations. Lavalette connects artists with opportunities that allow their singular vision to shape original commissions and supports clients on art direction, photo editing, research, and licensing.

Artists have completed commissions for The New Yorker, The New York Times, New York Magazine, National Geographic, TIME, The Wall Street Journal, Elle, Vice, Vogue, The Economist, the BBC, Balenciaga, Guerlain, Google, HP, Nike, UNESCO, and WaterAid, among others.

Connect

Shane Lavalette has spent nearly two decades championing and guiding artists, leading ambitious projects, and bringing creative ideas to fruition. He has previously worked as Director of the non-profit Light Work (2011–2021), as Co-founder & Director of the gallery and agency Assembly (2021–2025), which was integrated with Lavalette in 2025. He is currently a strategic advisor to the digital art platform Verse (2025–) and serves on the board of Houston Center for Photography (2024–).
